The Canary Islands – A Paradise for Hikers

Island-Hopping in the Canaries

The Canary Islands are known for their beaches, but they are also a haven for hikers. During my two-month island-hopping adventure in the Canaries, I explored numerous hiking trails. While I missed out on some islands, like El Hierro, I had the opportunity to discover the diverse landscapes of the Canaries. If you’re planning a hiking holiday, I recommend visiting La Palma and La Gomera for their varied trails and less developed areas. However, there are fantastic hikes all over the Canaries. Here are some of the best hikes I experienced:

  1. Taganana to Tamadite, Tenerife

  2. Roque Nublo, Gran Canaria

  3. Chinamada, Tenerife

  4. Pico de la Nieve, La Palma

  5. Garajonay National Park, La Gomera

  6. Los Tilos, La Palma

  7. National Park of the Caldera, La Palma

  8. Teno Park, Tenerife

  9. The barrancos of La Gomera

  10. Trekking all across La Palma
